Fabric & Care Guide

Five fabrics, each doing a different job. Here's how to choose, and how to keep them looking new.

Choosing your fabric

Everyday Grace — Jersey

Best for: every day, work, the gym, travel.
Soft cotton jersey with natural stretch. It grips on its own, so no pins and no slipping. The most forgiving fabric to style if you're new to it, and the one most people end up wearing most.

Silk Air — Plain Chiffon

Best for: almost anything — office, occasions, everyday.
Light and fluid with a clean drape and a matte finish. It falls in a line rather than clinging, and it's opaque enough to wear without an underscarf. Our largest colour range by a distance.

Refined Ripple — Crinkle Chiffon

Best for: long days, windy days, anyone tired of re-pinning.
The fine crinkle gives the fabric memory, so it holds a style on its own and forgives being pushed back into place. It also never needs ironing.

Soft Ripple — Cotton Crinkle

Best for: summer, heat, all-day comfort.
Breathable cotton with a relaxed crinkle. The most forgiving fabric we make, and it gets softer with every wash.

Luxe Flow — Modal

Best for: occasions, events, days that matter.
Premium modal with a silk-like hand and enough weight to fall in a deliberate line. A subtle sheen that reads as expensive without ever looking shiny.

Quick comparison

Caring for your hijab

Washing

Hand wash cold, or machine wash cold on a delicate cycle inside a laundry bag. A laundry bag matters more than people think — it stops fine fabrics catching on zips and stretching.

Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry.

Drying

Hang in the shade. Direct Australian sun will fade colour faster than anything else you do to it, particularly the deep reds and blues.

Ironing

Jersey, plain chiffon and modal can take a cool iron on the reverse side.

Never iron the crinkle fabrics — Refined Ripple or Soft Ripple. Pressing flattens the texture and it does not come back. To refresh a crinkle, twist it gently while damp and let it dry twisted.

First wash

Wash deep shades on their own for the first two or three washes, especially reds and darker blues.

Storing

Roll rather than fold if you can — it avoids a permanent crease line down the middle. Hanging is fine for jersey and modal.
